The Los Angeles Rams have positioned themselves to once again become a team that can compete for a championship, even as the new Matthew Stafford contract and gradual decline of established starters forced a few big roster moves to give the offense a jolt.
Cooper Kupp has officially hit the open market. Rather than pinching pennies to replace him, Les Snead signed Davante Adams to a two-year contract and immediately created one of the best wide receiver duos in the league alongside Puka Nacua.
With the wide receiver room taken care of following the Adams move and Tutu Atwell's new contract, Snead and the Rams front office can officially turn his attention toward the 2025 NFL Draft. This 3-round battle plan would help him address his biggest areas of need.
Los Angeles Rams 3-round NFL Mock Draft after Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams moves
Round 1, Pick 26: Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State
The top three cornerbacks in this draft (Colorado's Travis Hunter, Michigan's Will Johnson, Texas' Jahdae Barron) seem set in stone. The title of CB4 is wide open, and Porter might be able to reach those elevated heights after showing off a splendid combination of size and speed at the NFL Combine.
6-3 cornerbacks with solid tape are rare, and the ones that can run a 4.30 40-yard dash are even rarer. While Porter is an older rookie, which could explain his dominance on tape last year, a corner with those tools should have no problem working his way into the Rams' lineup immediately.
Round 3, Pick 90: Barrett Carter, LB, Clemson
The Rams have already lost Christian Rozeboom, and their linebacker collection wasn't exactly overflowing with talent when they started last season. Even in a weak linebacker class, a player like Carter (who was getting first-round hype before the season started) should eat up a good chunk of snaps during his rookie season.
While he is a smaller player at 6-1 and 230 pounds, what Carter lacks in run-stuffing mastery he makes up for in quality speed, solid coverage skills, and the ability to lead a defense. After hitting on Jared Verse and Braden Fiske, Snead has earned the benefit of the doubt when drafting for defense.
Round 3, Pick 101: Gunnar Helm, TE, Texas
The Rams could have a very difficult decision to make if both Helm and Oregon's Terrance Ferguson are both on the board here. Ferguson may be the better athlete at the position, but Helm profiles as someone who could have a more immediate impact for a win-now team like LA.
Helm is never going to win a 100-meter dash, not is he the sharpest route-runner, but he has gradually improved as a blocker and shows the soft hands needed to become a red zone target for Sean McVay.
