The Los Angeles Rams are stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of the 2025 NFL Draft. The team has excelled at finding rookie prospects in all rounds of the draft who can deliver and exceed expectations. The problem is that the Rams typically start a trend in the NFL that other teams eventually catch on to and learn to replicate to some degree.

Of course, there are always options to choose from in any draft, and the Rams have had a jaw-dropping streak of success recently. But many NFL draft analysts have already gone on record expressing how multiple teams in the 2025 NFL Draft are interested in trading back and out of Round 1. And yes, the LA Rams are believed to be among them.

But there have been plenty of whispers among NFL Insiders as well. NFL rumors often fill in the gaps of concrete information, and the information known about this year's draft is a far cry from the knowledge of the 2024 NFL Draft. As an example, just 16 rookie prospects have accepted their invitations to attend Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. That is only half of the number of rookies who will hear their names called out on Day 1.

They are:

If you examine the list of rookies who plan to attend, you will note several big names absent from the list. Penn State TE Tyler Warren, Michigan TE Colston Loveland, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, and Louisville QB Tyler Shough are just five of the rookies who have been mentioned as Day 1 prospects who are not in attendance.

There have been many suggestions that the Rams are aiming for a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. But with the number of quarterbacks in attendance limited to just Miami QB Cam Ward and Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, that scenario seem much more unlikely. We know that the Tennessee Titans will almost certainly select Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the draft. And we expect that either the New Orleans Saints (9th overall) or Pittsburgh Steelers (21st overall) will select a quarterback, most likely Jalen Milroe.

That seems to suggest that the Rams do not intend to name a quarterback in Round 1. Based on comments from Rams fans on social media and after articles are published, that will give everyone a collective sigh of relief. ESPN was particularly aggressive in the weeks leading up to the draft in linking Jaxson Dart to the Rams. The Rams have also been linked to Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, so the team is not completely out of the woods just yet.

Of course, the absence of a rookie prospect does not assure that rookie will not be selected. After all, with just 16 rookies attending Day 1, 16 teams will make their Round 1 selection without a corresponding rookie to walk out on the stage and claim their commemorative team hat and jersey.

But it does suggest that the Rams are not fixated on a rookie quarterback in Round 1. That is great news for a fanbase that is eager for the team to add a plug-and-play rookie to the roster on Day 1, much like Florida State outside linebacker Jared Verse was an immediate starter for the Rams in 2024.

Keep believing in GM Les Snead. He's adept at finding the right rooke for the Rams roster. And as always, thanks for reading.
