On Friday, TMZ Sports released a video of Aaron Donald on the Los Angeles Rams’ practice field. While Donald currently remains retired and the team is away on break, the NFL legend reportedly spent an hour working out and going through various drills.

As soon as the video hit the internet, Rams fans rejoiced. It certainly seemed like something Donald would do were he preparing for a comeback, or at least seriously considering one. Turns out, that’s exactly what was taking place.

Insider Adam Schefter appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday to share some context behind the video. Schefter revealed that Donald told Los Angeles he wanted to go to the facility, work out, and see how he felt. That’s just what the team let him do.

Aaron Donald continues to explore Rams comeback

Schefter went on to say that he doesn’t know what Donald’s message was to the team after the workout, but the insider’s understanding is that the defensive tackle is putting himself through different experiences to see how he responds physically, mentally, and emotionally, to help him decide whether he really wants to resume his career.

This is in line with everything Donald has said about a possible comeback. The speculation all started when the Rams acquired star defender Myles Garrett. The possibility of the two all-time greats playing alongside each other has held fans entranced.

Shortly after the trade, Donald admitted to being piqued by the idea of joining Garrett, but he also made clear that unretiring would require rediscovering his fire within. Since that statement, an ever-growing trail of breadcrumbs has hinted at an encore.

From clips of Donald training with current players, to his potential Rams teammates sharing open-ended social media posts, everyone is feeding the fire. This workout on Los Angeles’ practice field is the latest example, and also the most incendiary.

Rams fans will now anxiously await further word. Did the training ignite a fire that has Donald ready to return, or did it tell him to stay retired? He will surely provide some clarity once he arrives at a decision, and fans are hoping it’s a decision that will get him back on the field.
