The Los Angeles Rams are All In once more. If you don't recognize that mantra, it inspired a host of trades that led to winning Super Bowl LVI. And it was something that general manager Les Snead alluded to after the 2025 NFL season concluded, inspired by the return of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. Well, Stafford is back. And so are blockbuster trades.

This should not come as a surprise to fans. A trade proposal for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie aired on this site months ago, The only variation is the cost for McDuffie. While the team is parting with its latter first-round pick, LA is also sweetening the deal with an additional fifth-round pick, a sixth-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick.

So that's left in Snead's vault? LA still has picks in Rounds 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 (3 picks to close out draft). But experienced fans understood that as soon as Stafford opted to come back for another season, draft picks transformed from potential rookie prospects into trade currency.

Rams Les Snead remains king of blockbuster NFL trades

It was only a matter of time for the ambitious Rams general manager to find his trade target. While some hinted that he may have been sizing up Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, the greatest need for this team and this defense was upgrading the secondary. And it was always going to be veteran cornerback Trent McDuffie.

Adding him not only puts this team in a much better position to defend the pass but gives the secondary far more flexibility to match players to their true strengths. With McDuffie, the team believes it has the true counter for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. And it likely does.

The art of making a blockbuster trade is more than splashy headlines. It's a sense that not only can that player help the overall team, but that he will be amenable to a long-term relationship in Los Angeles.

Right now, McDuffie's current contract is soon to lapse.

Snead has addressed the most glaring weakness of the team's resilient defense. And he is likely already planning how to extend Trent McDuffie on a new contract to keep him in Horns for the foreseeable future.

While this may be premature, it's time to celebrate, Rams fans. Les Snead, like a Canadian Mounty, always gets his man.

As always, thanks for reading.
