Rams' next move after landing Myles Garrett would cap Super Bowl offseason

The Los Angeles Rams are embracing the all-in mentality again. After barely missing out on a Super Bowl berth in 2025, the Rams did not sit on their hands. Welcome to Los Angeles, Myles Garrett.

Early in the offseason, general manager Les Snead parted with a boatload of draft picks to land cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, while also signing his former Chiefs teammate in Jaylen Watson. The Rams' cornerback struggles stuck out like a sore thumb last season, especially near the end, and it's clear that Snead wanted to establish the exact opposite in 2026 and beyond.

Now he is flexing his muscles again. Monday morning, news broke that the Rams were negotiating a blockbuster with the Cleveland Browns to acquire Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. What should the team's next move be after that earthquake of a trade?

Rams must scour market for wide receiver help

Even with the loss of Jared Verse in the trade, adding Garrett to the defense is a seismic upgrade. The future Hall of Famer just won his second DPOY by setting the single-season sack with 23 total. This Myles Garrett we're talking about. Myles. Garrett.

After an offseason emphasis on improving the defense, the Rams' next step is to see what kind of help they can secure for the offense. On paper, this unit isn't missing much. The offensive line, tight end room, and running back room are all easily top-10 groups.

The same could be said for the wide receiver room, but it's also extremely top-heavy. Davante Adams is getting up there in age, and the passing attack is extremely reliant on Puka Nacua. Adding another receiver would soothe the concerns of many anxious Rams fans.

After Nacua and Adams, Xavier Smith finished third on the team with 303 receiving yards. Nacua plus Adams combined for 24 of Matthew Stafford's 46 touchdown passes. While that duo could again be prolific in 2026, the Rams' receiver depth just isn't that special behind them. In fact, it's almost nonexistent.

Signing a veteran free agent could be the answer. There are some neat options still on the market, and it's important to remember that the Rams wouldn't be asking any free-agent receiver to be more than a third or fourth option. That's doable.

Keenan Allen, the longtime Los Angeles Charger, could make a lot of sense. Deebo Samuel is also still out there and could be a functional depth option. Tyreek Hill or Stefon Diggs could also be on the table, but both are dealing with uncertainties that could impact their availability for the 2026 season.

A battle-tested veteran like Allen might actually be the best possible option. Simply put, the Rams need another viable pass-catcher. In 2025, the ever-reliable wideout hauled in 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns. Even with Allen being more of a short-area target, giving Stafford another security blanket would cap off this Super Bowl-caliber offseason.

Let's see what Snead can do.
