Rams troll 49ers fans, igniting smoldering division rivalry to viral bonfire

The Rams won the game, but two Rams elite players - Aaron Donal and Puka Nacua - won the social media post-game battle

The 6-4 San Francisco 49ers are a solid football team with plenty of success this season. But their Week 10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 42-26 was not a moment to be proud of. Every team loses games over the course of the season. But when that loss comes at the hands of a division rival? Fans react.

The first social media viral moment happened when former Rams All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald protested on social media after his former team walked away with a decisive victory in what many viewed as a must-win game for both teams.

"What is up with all these 49ers fans? You all mad you all (are) still living off yalls last Super Bowl win in 1995, haha. You know my resume. Let me be 💫"
Aaron Donald

The social media interactions leading up to the legend's social media post are unknown. But the results of his post erupted into a viral event that grew large enough to involve beat reporters and bloggers. It's nothing new. The 49ers have a passionate fan base that is renowned for trolling after a win.

So it's safe to assume that turnabout is fair play

Puka Nacua trolls 49ers in classic fashion too

Social media heated up even hotter when the image of LA's elite wide receiver Puka Nacua surfaced, showing him dancing with a boombox perched on his shoulder. That carried the social media wildfire to an entirely new level.

For background, the 49ers' boombox entrance is a flamboyant routine that has indicated the team emerging from the tunnel to the football field for many years. But it's not something that the team has exclusive rights to. And the ritual is so glaringly over-the-top that it begs to be ridiculed and mocked in the event of a loss.

Them's the breaks.

And other NFC West team fans and websites are stepping in, no doubt very aware of how ridiculous the scenario with a fanbase known for trolling opponents after a loss, now are protesting the same treatment after their own humbling loss.

Imagine if the Stafford Shimmy became an every-game ritual? Wouldn't that pompous tradition beg opposing players to mock him? And you can bet that San Fran players would be among the first to do so. That's the emotional component of every NFL fan.

The game was still just one game. By winning, Los Angeles' chances for postseason competition are improved, and the Niners' chances for postseason competition have lessened. But both teams are still favored to compete in the NFL playoffs.

The two teams split their games in 2025. And so, LA must pivot to its Week 11 opponent, the 7-2 Seattle Seahawks. And SF must now turn its attention to the 3-6 Arizona Cardinals. Right now, both teams have plenty to play for through the remainder of the season. That means it's time to drop the curtain on Week 10 drama and focus on the next challenge on the schedule.

As always, thanks for reading.
