The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a rather successful 2025 NFL season that landed them in the NFC Championship Game. Unlike other NFL playoff teams, many of the key players on this roster are young. So young, in fact, that they are still playing on rookie contracts. Truth be told, three LA Pro Bowlers are still playing on rookie contracts.

And two of those players are eligible for extensions.

So, what does the team have planned for their young NFL stars? If you can take head coach Sean McVay at face value, they are all in line to get extensions. It's all very exciting news for fans who love the production of wide receiver Puka Nacua, edge rusher Byron Young, defensive lineman Kobie Turner, and interior offensive lineman Steve Avila.

But it's also news that 31 other NFL general managers loathe to hear.

No, it won't be easy. The team will need to be very creative to keep all four players under the 2026 NFL salary cap, and still leave room to add additional key players through other extensions, free agency, and the draft. But where there is a will, there is a way. And fans can at least celebrate the news that the team will try to get all four back for 2027.

Rams roster will be loaded for 2026 too

While the team takes a step back from 2025 to regroup and reset a new strategy for the new NFL season, let's start off by stating the obvious. The LA Rams roster, regardless of free agency and the draft, will be loaded for 2026 as well. It's not bragging, it's just the facts.

Sure, the team will have some difficult roster decisions to make, Multiple expiring contracts and underperformers may need to find new teams to play for. Of course, it's easier to move on from veterans while general manager Les Snead continues to find gold on Day 3 or after of the draft.

And while the roster remains in flux at the moment, a vault full of valuable draft picks could lead to a team landing multiple starters in the 2026 NFL Draft. But that is subject to the team keeping its picks, a strategy that may not hold (we'll discuss that in a future article).

For now, the team is loaded for bear. The only question mark is the future of Matthew Stafford. Not even head coach Sean McVay is willing to speculate. Of course, that hasn't stopped multiple NFL pundits from posing the question of Stafford's potential retirement.

Except for the quarterback, LA fans have lots to look forward to next season. Hopefully, the veteran girl-dad will choose to return for an 18th season.

As always, thanks for reading.
