St. Louis Rams Trade Rumors: Michael Brockers To the Bears?

facebooktwitterreddit

The draft trade rumors have started. According to multiple reports, although none coming out of St. Louis, the St. Louis Rams could be moving defensive tackle Michael Brockers after they just exercised his fifth year option.

This report comes from the same source who predicted the Rams to trade Sam Bradford to the Eagles for Nick Foles, therefore while he isn’t Adam Schefter, he does have some credibility.

This deal would make a lot of sense as the Rams would be looking to get up to the seventh overall pick to presumably take one of the top receivers still on the board in Kevin White or Amari Cooper, or even take what many may consider their top option in Brandon Scherff.

It is expected that if Scherff drops to ninth, that the New York Giants would take him. This would leave the Rams in a tough spot as Scherff is the best offensive lineman on the board. The Rams would either have to hope they can trade back or they would have to take a player that isn’t a position of need.

It is also assumed that the Bears are in the market for a wide receiver. While they could take White or Cooper at seven, if both aren’t available, or one is available that will most likely drop to ten, Atlanta nor New York needs a receiver, then Chicago trading back makes sense.

If White or Cooper aren’t on the board, the Bears will most likely go defense, but if the Rams give them Brockers, the Bears could also get DeVante Parker while still addressing the defensive side of the ball.

This is a deal that makes sense for both sides, the Rams did just sign Nick Fairley in free agency who would do a nice job replacing Brockers, and the Rams could also get a player that they are targeting in Scherff, Cooper, or White.

It is close to the draft which means there are going to be a lot of rumors that may end up being smoke, but as they say, where there’s smoke, theres fire.
