Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings may have been the game that introduced a national TV audience to what is happening in Los Angeles. Until that Thursday Night Football game, the Rams had been very effective at dispatching the Oakland Raiders 33-13, NFC West opponent Arizona Cardinals 34-0, and the Los Angeles Chargers 35-23.

The Vikings looked to be a team waiting to validate the experts who’d picked them to be a Super Bowl contender. At 5-4-1, you can decide whether the are or are not a championship kind of team, but in Week 4, the NFL saw on a national stage that the Rams were what the NFL is quickly looking like: a quick strike offense who can outscore anyone.

At the Coliseum against the Vikings, the Rams did just that. They got into a shootout that they won, 38-31, setting up a big three-game road trip that had them win games at the Seattle Seahawks 33-31, the Denver Broncos 23-20, and the San Francisco 49ers 39-10.

Hardly a playoff gauntlet, but it does show that Los Angeles can go on the road and win at tough venues, especially in Seattle and Denver.

The home game in Week 4 against the Vikings showed that the Rams are game to win a high scoring affair. Little did they know how many points they’d need to win some of those games to get to 10-1.
