Is Jared Goff a good quarterback, absolutely, but if last night was one of those games…., then he’ll get three more to show it was just ”one of those games.”

20 of 44 for 180 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions just rolls of the tongue, amirite?

Fact is, the Bears defense was the best defense the Los Angeles Rams have seen this season, and the end result was not unlike what the Dallas Cowboys did to the New Orleans Saints. The Rams were stymied, Goff looked like it was his first day, and McVay probably didn’t help him out much via his play-calling.

It happens.

But it also can’t happen again. It’s the same kind of head scratching performance fans will recall after a dud of a postseason game when they lost to the Atlanta Falcons at the end of the 2017 season. If the immediate takeaway is that the Rams have slid the other way from the type of team fans and the NFL at large have grown accustomed to after an 11-1 start, you’re mistaken.

That said, if Goff goes out and lays another egg against the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday night in the Coliseum, fans won’t be able to scoff that everyone else is wrong except for them.
