The question as to whether Jared Goff is or is not a system quarterback is an endless debate that when had with Rams fan is immediately shouted down, but often reasonably accepted by anyone else.

But under more logical scrutiny, if you say Goff was failing under the Jeff Fisher regime, which he was, but is wildly succeeding under Sean McVay, then you made the system quarterback point.

And that’s OK. Because Jared Goff is markedly better under McVay than he ever would have been under Fisher.

Period-
Full stop.

That said, you can also take a look at Wentz clearly needing to do more with noticeably less in Philadelphia, especially without former quarterbacks coach Frank Reich, AND having come off of a major knee injury last season that has hampered him in 2018.

Goff meanwhile has been surrounded by a bounty of talent AND the best head coach in the National Football League. He’s had the Offensive Player Of The Year in Todd Gurley in his backfield, the Defensive Player Of The Year in Aaron Donald, and more talented ball catchers in his huddle than Wentz has.

Philadelphia has been a riddle all season long as their 6-7 record would indicate. They could finish anywhere from 9-7 to 6-10 as two of their last three games are in Los Angeles and at the Washington Redskins.

The bottom line is Goff is blessed with remarkable talent, coaching, and an offense system he’s thriving in.

He should and it’s benefited him well.

With pieces missing all around him AND being injured, Wentz still may have had an outside chance to get his team to the playoffs. It was a long shot, but a shot nonetheless.
