3. Nothing wrong with insurance

Right away, when the news in regards to Brown missing the rest of the regular season was released, most Rams fans expected John Kelly to take on a larger role on the offense after having a quiet rookie campaign for the most part.

More from Ramblin' Fan

Back in the preseason, Kelly emerged as one of the biggest impact players for Los Angeles on offense, and seemed like he was going to find a way to see some significant action during his first NFL season.

Obviously, this hasn’t been the case for Kelly, but the good news is McVay wouldn’t have kept him around if he didn’t think the rookie was capable of handling the additional responsibilities if needed.

Plus, when looking at how both Todd Gurley and Justin Davis have been dealing with injuries as of late, this could result in Kelly or Anderson seeing some extra action during this final stretch.

Signing Anderson seemed surprising by some, but for the sake of the Rams dealing with a few injuries this late in the season, it never hurts to add a little insurance just in case something were to happen.

Also, when it comes to other teams looking to add a little boost at running back before the playoffs, Los Angeles knew if they didn’t jump to sign Anderson now, they could have missed out later on.
