It almost seems inconceivable, but the Los Angeles Rams are playing something of a “must-win” kind of game against the Cardinals in Week 16. After losing two in a row, to both Chicago and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15, LA is a team facing adversity after sailing in smooth waters for the better part of the 2018 season.

The Rams have two additional areas of concern beyond the weekly defensive ones. First is the health and depth of the Los Angeles running game, and a close second is where quarterback Jared Goff is after some weeks of looking completely off his game.

Los Angeles made some late season moves on Tuesday afternoon when the jettisoned 2017 Pro Bowler Pharoh Cooper to make room for running back C.J. Anderson. Anderson is some hopeful insurance as Todd Gurley may be breaking down with knee inflation that has now limited him in at least one game. It’s also hoped that the addition will boost a critical rushing attack that subsequently allowed Goff to flourish this season.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are hoping to maybe sneak up and catch the Rams in a slump of their own. Both teams come in to Week 16 with two game losing streaks, with Arizona losing last Sunday on the road against the Atlanta Falcons 40-14. The Rams are also wanting to stay a game up on the Bears who are playing in Santa Clara.
