While certain offseason moves from 2018 will come under needed scrutiny when the season finally ends, one that will be hailed as a huge success is the one where the Los Angeles Rams went out and got C.J. Anderson off the scrap heap.

Make no bones about it, Anderson may alone be the reason LA locked up that second seed and gives fans so much optimism going into the playoffs.

Besides providing running back Todd Gurley some needed and timely rest, he gave the offense the shot in the arm it needed to recoup from what was shaping up as a disastrous December. He also gave some traction to a desperately needed rushing game which ultimately allowed Jared Goff to get back to thriving in a system so dependent on a positive ground attack.

Whatever his workload may be in the postseason, it’s an added gift the Rams and head coach Sean McVay now have with a pretty loaded arsenal of talent. Having helped settle a teetering ship, his acquisition may prove to be the difference maker that puts Los Angeles over the top and gets them to a Lombardi Trophy, making the addition of Anderson the biggest and smartest get the Rams made in 2018.
