LA Rams draft Rodrigo Blankenship, K Georgia

The LA Rams decide to move on from Greg Zuerlein. K Rodrigo Blankenship is selected in round 6. Hopefully, he is available when the Rams pick here on day three. He will be in high demand.

More from Ramblin' Fan

Blankenship stands 6-feet-1 weighing 191 pounds. At Georgia, he was a perfect 200 of 200 on extra-point kicks. He accounted for 440 points with field goals and extra points as a Bulldog.

Blankenship will be the first kicker drafted by LA since Zuerlein in 2012. Frank Corral was drafted in round 3 of the 1978 draft. Usually, kickers are taken after the draft.

Jeff Wilkins is the career scoring leader for LA. He scored 1223 points for the Rams from 1997 through 2007. Wilkins was an undrafted kicker that began his career in 1994 and signed with the Rams in 1997.

Blankenship is worthy of being drafted. The Rams must grab this talented kicker. As you know, games are often placed into the foot of the kicker. Wouldn’t you want the best young kicker on the Rams roster?

He will be definitely the first kicker selected. Most teams will wait until later rounds to grab a talented guy. Hopefully, LA pulls the trigger to take Blankenship. He is arguably worth the risk in round 6.

Here is the sixth pick for the Rams 2020 draft.
