September in style

WEEK 1 · Sun 09/13 – 5:20 pm PT hosting Dallas Cowboys (8-8)

Since taking over the reins of the LA Rams, head coach Sean McVay has never lost the season opener. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys are 2-1 over the same time frame in home openers, but both wins came by hosting the New York Giants.  The LA Rams are not the New York Giants. Los Angeles is not Dallas.

More from Rams News

The Cowboys opened as a 2.5 point road favorite as they often win the offseason. Of course, the Cowboys defeated a battered Rams team handily, as they put up two 100 yard rushers in that game.  The Rams countered by beefing up their run defense, which will surely be tested by the Cowboys running game. Keep in mind that Cowboys center Travis Frederick retired, so 2018 starter Joe Looney will take over. With less time to work out the bugs, the Rams can have a field day in the opener by putting pressure up the middle. The Rams secondary shuts down the Cowboys passing game, and the Rams offense is too much for the out-of-synch Cowboys.

WEEK 2· Sun 09/20· 10:00 am PT @ Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)

On the road to Philadelphia is not much fun, particularly after a grueling home opener.  And any game by the Rams to the East Coast is almost certainly bound to be doubly difficult.  The Eagles play on the road at Washington, so this will be an early clash of undefeated teams. The Eagles will certainly miss right guard Brandon Brooks in this one, but their new and improved will give the Rams significant challenges as well.

Cam Akers could break out in this one, with up to a 100+ yards rushing game, and the Rams offense shows some backbone in putting together some late-game heroics. In the end, this will come down to field goals. And the LA Rams, thanks to the arrival of Lirim Hajrullahu, win with a 40+ yard field goal.

Rams 23 Eagles 21 (Rams 2-0, Eagles 1-1)

WEEK 3· Sun 09/27· 10:00 am PT @ Buffalo Bills (10-6)

By week three, the NFL matchmakers are once more delighted to find two undefeated teams go head to head. The Bills return home after mowing down two AFC teams, the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. The Rams, meanwhile, continue on the road to face another non-NFC-West playoff team.

The Bills have a very stout defense, but quarterback Josh Allen is on his heels guessing in most of this one. The Rams defense gets tough on the road, and the offense leans heavily on two-tight end formations. The Rams defense comes up big in this one. Two interceptions help to seal the victory.
