LA Rams’ game-day puts the 6-3 team on the East Coast for the fourth time this season, this time to take on the 7-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The LA Rams have traveled to the East Coast a lot this year. But they’ll have to pack up their suitcase and do it one more time. So far, the Rams have taken on the Buffalo Bills, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Miami Dolphins, and the team is just 1-2 for such a long-distance effort. This weekend, the Rams will make every attempt to even the score.

The Rams are also looking for a bit of retaliation after the Bucs decimated the Rams en route to a 55-40 upset victory over the Rams in Los Angeles. It was that game that exposed cornerback Marcus Peters as the wrong-fit for the Rams secondary. The game was also the beginning of the end for the team’s hopes to defend their NFC Championship title in 2019. The loss to the Buccaneers began a three-game losing streak for the Rams which they never truly recovered from. The team ended the season at 9-7. Now, the Rams have a chance to derail the Buccaneers’ playoff aspirations.

The Monday evening weather is currently forecast to be partly cloudy with dropping temperatures. After a daytime high of 80 degrees, the temperature will fall quickly to a nighttime low of 59 degrees and a steady wind from the north-northeast in a range of 5 to 10 mph. With dropping temperatures and light winds, cloud cover will linger, creating excellent conditions for a football game.

High scoring game?

The LA Rams face another potent offense in this one. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense is led by one of the best quarterbacks to play the game in Tom Brady. As such, he has elevated the Buccaneers to the 14th-ranked yardage offense, and sixth-ranked scoring offense. The Brady-led Bucs average 29.6 points per game, which is nearly a touchdown better than the LA Rams at 24.0 points per game.

The Rams hold the upper hand on defense, but don’t take the Buccaneers defense too lightly. They are the eighth-ranked scoring defense and the third-ranked yardage defense in the NFL to date. And they hold a distinct advantage by hosting this Monday Night Football contest.

Can Rams duplicate NO Saints success against Bucs?

The New Orleans Saints swept the Buccaneers, winning both games handily this season. And the secret to their success is the way the defense confused and confounded veteran QB Tom Brady. Combined in both games, Brady was a combined 45 of 74 passes for 448 yards, two touchdowns, five interceptions, and sacked six times for 38 yards lost.

While the Rams have a defense that can stymie the Buccaneers’ top receivers, the Rams offense may not be quite as dangerous as that of the Saints.  But the Rams do have talented tight ends, a weakness that the Saints were more than happy to exploit. And the Saints were able to rush the ball effectively enough to keep the Buccaneers on their heels. Perhaps the biggest detail to the Saints’ success is the fact that Brees was only sacked once in each game, and threw six touchdowns without throwing a single interception.
