Positive culture

That is the culture where Brad Holmes has been promoted almost like clockwork. As we had indicated in a recent feature article, Holmes has been a vital and key contributor to the LA Rams personnel department for the past 18 years. That chapter has ended, and a new chapter begins. He is the new GM of the Detroit Lions.

As we had discussed previously, Holmes has shown the ability to take on an ever-increasing role with the LA Rams personnel office. That means that he is more than someone who is paid to show up between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. He is vital to the Rams process, meets organizational goals, and exceeds expectations.

One interview sets Holmes apart

Yahoo Sports Eric Edholm wrote an excellent feature article about LA Rams Director of College Scouting Brad Holmes in July 2019 where he interviewed Holmes about why Holmes got into scouting, how he made his way in his career, and highlights of his career.  It is an excellent article because it not only relays how Holmes did it but Edholm and Holmes leave a clearcut path for anyone to make their own way into the business of football scouting.  Holmes loved to develop those around him and plant the seed of positive thinking in everyone he met.

The Detroit Lions are in dire need of a culture change. During the season, recently signed NT A’Shawn Robinson made an emotionally charged comment about the firing of the Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn and HC Matt Patricia.  The outburst showed just how bad things had gotten with the Lions. And just like that, the Detroit Lions make a huge step towards changing everything about the team’s culture. But what of the Rams?
