The arrival of elite veteran Davante Adams was a blessing in many ways for the Los Angeles Rams. Packed with young receivers, the team instantly landed an elite mentor to teach them his wisdom and techniques, a process that is already seeing results.

Unexpectedly, Adams has taken a particular interest in rookie wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, who Adams claims has many of his own younger traits when approaching the game.

Adams is full of surprises. He has been struggling to catch more than 50 percent of his passes through seven games, but he is leading the team in receiving touchdowns. He loves playing with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, even while admitting that the pair must clean up their disconnect struggles that are hindering the offense.

Perhaps the most shocking and compelling revelation from Adams is his admission to learning some new tricks from the young wide receivers on this team. Per his interview with beat reporter Adam Grosbard, he shares how he sees LA's young receivers flying around all over the field making blocks, and realizes he has to up his game to keep up.

Davante Adams was a huge get for all the right reasons

While it was tough to witness the team part ways with fan favorite wide receiver Cooper Kupp, those same fans have to be pleased with the contribution Adams has made so far. In just seven games, he has already matched or exceeded the touchdown receptions by Kupp in each of the past three seasons. Ten games remain on the schedule.

But he is more to this team than a touchdown maker. The 32-year-old wide receiver is an extension of the coaching staff. He has a completely different skill set that truly benefits separation specialists like Mumpfield. At the same time, he has been instrumental in coaching up young defensive backs, improving their techniques and coverage effectiveness.

For fans, he is an open book. He is a straight-shooter who shares the events that typically fall unseen to NFL fans. His journey in Horns has been a series of compelling episodes, and he continues to captivate fans with insightful interviews. Best of all, he shows up on game day.

He's on track for another 1000+ receiving yards. And if he continues to score at his current pace, he could end the season with 14+ receiving touchdowns. The last time LA had a receiver score that frequently was 2021, when Cooper Kupp scored 16 touchdowns.

FYI, Adams scored 18 touchdowns for the Green Bay Packers in 2020. The suspense is building.

As always, thanks for reading.
