The Los Angeles Rams are bracing for a tough game. That's not speculative, it's just the track record for the Horns in the postseason so far. The team has won two games, each by a margin of just three points. And the next opponent, the Seattle Seahawks, is a team that has played LA to a virtual standoff.
It makes great television. It also makes nervous fans.
To settle anxious fans, and perhaps players as well, the LA Rams have named legendary Aaron Donald as an honorary captain of the team for the NFC Championship Game. Without hesitation, Donald recorded a message for the fans before the kickoff. It's worth watching.

Many players on the team played with Donald in his final season in 2023. And it's Donald who asked the team to draft rookies who play with passion, a trait that general manager Les Snead continues to adhere to now. This defense is he legacy. Now, the players know that a former legend is watching.
Nobody wants to disappoint the Great One
Aaron Donald still loves his team and teammates
Donald left the NFL on his terms. A perennial All-Pro, he was a force of nature on the defensive front. His presence forced opposing teams to craft a gameplan that addressed at least two blockers on Donald with every snap of the football. But his love for the game waned, and he stepped away at the top of his game.
He was never selfish. Despite walking away, he continues to mentor young defenders. And it's that investment of his time and knowledge that makes all the difference in the world for the players who know he is there.
You know that outside linebacker Jared Verse will step up his game. He was humbled by trying to work out with Aaron Donald in the offseason. It was a career-defining moment for Verse, and one that he carries with him now.
Every player on the Rams roster knows that they cannot meet the same level of perfection that Aaron Donald mastered in nearly every game. But with him there to support the team, every player on the LA Rams roster will not stop trying to do so.
As always, thanks for reading.
