The Los Angeles Rams offense scored more points per game than any other offense in 2025. While that is a great foundation to build upon for the 2026 NFL season, it comes at a price. At season's end, eight of eleven starters face free agency. Even veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, who agreed to a reworked two-year extension, is essentially playing on a one-year deal.
Yikes!
Los Angeles knows that the team faces an incredible potential exodus of top-tier talent at the end of the 2026 NFL season. But now, The Athletic has put the calamitous migration out of Los Angeles on the radar of all 32 NFL teams. And you can bet that there are many general managers already strategizing over which LA stars to target in the 2027 NFL free agency market.
The Rams have 6 of the top 30 upcoming free agents on @TheAthleticNFL's rankings, even after signing Matthew Stafford.

Let's talk through what could be in store for Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Kevin Dotson, Steve Avila, Davante Adams and others:https://t.co/vYca7kuPf2
The Athletic's recent survey of the 2027 NFL Free Agency market lists the 30 most valuable free agents whose talents could be had for the highest bidder. Of the 32 NFL teams generating free agents in 2027, Los Angeles is the source for six of the top 30 projected free agents. That's the stuff that changes the entire NFL landscape.
LA Rams front office is flirtin' with disaster
LA currently has 25 players on expiring contracts. From a logistics standpoint, trying to hammer out that many extensions is going to force the personnel office to burn the midnight oil. But the alternative is to allow elite players to compete against the Horns in 2027.
Worse still, many of the imminent free agents will be the top targets of multiple NFL teams as soon as the free agency period starts. While almost all players love their experience in Los Angeles, it will be nearly impossible for all players to say no to the small fortunes other teams will tempt them with to play elsewhere.
5. WR Puka Nacua
There is no way LA lets Puka Nacua hit free agency, right? At least one writer believes it's possible. After all, he is an elite player on the football field, but a bit immature off the field. LA loves Puka, but this team has high expectations for discipline, even with top stars. Nacua is going to test head coach Sean McVay's resolve.
Early indications are that Nacua has seen the light. If he adheres to his role with the team, he could emerge as the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Keep in mind that Nacua's dollars cannot pay other players.
15. OLB Byron Young
The emergence of outside linebacker Byron Young as the dominating pass rusher of this defense may not be enough to stick around. A mature rookie, Young is 28 years old. His first huge contract will carry him into his early 30's. Will LA invest huge stacks of cash in him? Or will the team regroup on defense?
That's a huge question.
17. WR Davante Adams
Despite interest in Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown, LA is sticking with Davante Adams in 2025. And all indications point to Adams having a huge season in Horns. Still, Adams ends 2026 at the ripe age of 34 years old. He may still have plenty of NFL in him, but it's unlikely that he will be back without some form of discount.
22. RG Kevin Dotson
Right guard Kevin Dotson is Mr. LA Rams. A solid performer since arriving from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dotson has been a workhorse. He ends 2026 at 30 years old. Los Angeles may need to plan for a successor. But unless Dotson regresses this season, he should be back.
27. DL Kobie Turner
The versatility of interior defensive lineman Kobit Turner is enough to anticipate his return. But he's one of the NFL's most double-teamed players, and he cointinues to make plays. Like a fine wine, he continues to grow in value over time. Turner is the foundation of LA's defense. There simply is nobody in the pipeline with his impact.
28. LG Steve Avila
Perhaps the most underestimated player on this list, LA's offense rocks with Alaric Jackson and Stive Avila lining up side-by-side. The pair of behemoths form an impenetrable phalanx on passing downs, while becoming bulldozers on running plays. And Avila and Jackson have an instinctive bond that helps them know when the other needs help.
20 percent of the NFL's top projected free agents in 2027 from Los Angeles? That's a recipe that is truly flirtin' with disaster. We pointed to dark clouds on the horizon. Now, The Athletic confirms a huge storm is brewing for the Rams roster in a new, shocking report
As always, thanks for reading.
