Los Angeles Rams: Original sins a tie between bad uniforms and ignoring Aaron Donald

The Los Angeles Rams should be commended for an incredible 2017, and a productive 2018 offseason. But they have two mistakes that fans should not forget, and should feel free to openly question.

With a plethora of positives that have been achieved by the Los Angeles Rams, two things in the last week made news. One was actual news, while the other was conspicuous for not.

As most, if not all fans know, Los Angeles will continue to sport those ill-matching uniforms that were a pretty consistent laugh in 2018. Most humorous, if not an actual head-scratcher, is that no one inside the organization seems to have done the relatively simple math before exiting St. Louis, and going back to the old and sweet colors the team wore before heading to the Midwest.

Thanks Kevin Demoff.

So….., a team who could actually go to a Super Bowl continues to have a significant wardrobe malfunction because no one thought it a big enough deal to the local fan base. Such bad decision making isn’t rampant, but it’s one of two that should make fans wonder if this franchise is in the midst of some good fortune, or just stumbled into some good luck.

But that’s the thing, most fans just roll their eyes at colors that don’t match. I mean, if the Rams went to a Super Bowl, few would care what they wore on game day in the grander scheme of things.

That was the one bit of noteworthy news.
The second should give Los Angeles fans some greater pause.

Rams General Manager Les Snead is saying they want to get wide receiver Brandin Cooks signed to a long term deal. Fans know head coach Sean McVay absolutely gushes over his newest offensive toy, and LA would love a solution to what was a disappointment in now long gone Sammy Watkins.

But, hello?

Conspicuously absent much these last few weeks is the status, or lack thereof, of defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

You remember Donald, right? The 2017 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and odds on best D-lineman in the NFL. But right now, it’s Cooks they seem almost silly in a hurry to get done.

Like now.

Meanwhile, Donald and his camp languish waiting on a deal that will eventually come, one that Snead and the Rams organization will eventually ‘make good’ on.

Right?

The uniform stuff is mostly silly, but is important to teams branding, civic pride, etc.

Making Cooks a priority over Donald seems misguided. Maybe I’m being presumptive, but what is the shelf life on the good will between the Los Angeles Rams and the Donald camp?

It can’t be never-ending.

As I have said, NUMEROUS TIMES, the Rams have done a great job at putting together a franchise to contend not just for a division title, not only for a conference title, but a legitimate run at a Lombardi Trophy.

This other stuff, uniform colors that don’t match and a star defensive player with hat in hand waiting for a long overdue deal, is amateur hour.

Stuff that you hoped they’d finally gotten past.

Guess not.
