But once Cooks came into the picture, the loss of Watkins didn’t seem so bad after all since Goff was arguably getting an upgrade to the position with a more reliable receiver.
While Cooks is mostly known to draw extra attention from defenders to help pave the way for some of his teammates getting open, he can be just as dangerous separating himself from defensive players to find himself open down field, making it easy for Goff to find.
Even when Cooks has an extra defender on him, Goff will sometimes take a chance on one of his favorite receivers since he trusts him enough to find a way to make the big play.
During the Super Bowl, don’t be surprised if Goff tries to pull off one of these big plays early on to help give the offense a little extra momentum early on. And if Cooks happens to finish the game with a few deep catches, this will only increase the chances of the Rams earning a Super Bowl win.
