SJ39 Finds The End Zone

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’m not a huge fan of the Pro Bowl, and to be honest I didn’t even watch it, although I did casually follow Gamecast on ESPN.com while I was at work. Even if it’s not my favorite event, it’s always nice when a member of the Rams makes an impact. For those like me who didn’t see it, SJ39 finished the game with six carries for 33 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown scamper. I know it doesn’t really mean anything, but congrats to Jackson for being picked for the team and also for the touchdown. He is the consummate professional, [...]

Offseason Preview: Outside Linebacker

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

The offseason preview train chugs ahead with another position of great need for the Rams moving forward, that being outside linebacker. We are obviously set nicely already at MLB with James Laurinaitis, but this team needs some big time help on the outside. If the Rams do decide to address this need outside the draft, there are some nice options who could be available. Here are some names that stand out to me. Chad Greenway – There are a ton of guys I would love to see join the Rams for 2011 at numerous positions, but Greenway might just be [...]

Offseason Preview: Running Backs

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Moving ahead with our offseason preview, we are up to the running back position. Obviously, we have Steven Jackson in the fold already, but it’s no secret that the depth behind SJ39 leaves plenty to be desired. Now, as much as I would love to see the Rams sign a top-notch guy, I highly doubt that it would be economically feasible. I think the move here is for the Rams to look for veteran who is reasonably priced and who can catch the ball and spell Steven, and then use the draft to get his heir-apparent either this season or [...]

Offseason Preview: Wide Receiver

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

For the next couple of weeks I will be looking at some possible options for the Rams to take a look at this offseason. Since many people believe wide receiver is the most glaring need on this team, I thought that would be a good place to start. Here are some names I believe the Rams need to check out over the next few months. Braylon Edwards – I have to admit that I’m a little biased here, because I’m a huge Michigan fan and a huge Edwards fan. He is a big receiver who has proven in the past that [...]

Shurmur’s Message For Spags

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I don’t know how many of you have already seen this video, but I thought it was worthy of a post here at Ramblin’ Fan. This is from the press conference in Cleveland introducing Pat Shurmur as the Browns new head coach. Now, those of you who haven’t seen this yet may be asking… “Why on Earth would he post this video?”. For the answer to that question, you will need to jump ahead to the 2:15 mark or a little earlier. At that point in the video, Shurmur thanks coach Steve Spagnuolo, the Rams’ organization, and the city [...]

That video was from the Rams’ press conference today introducing Josh McDaniels as new offensive coordinator. I’ve heard plenty of the so-called “experts” on ESPN and other places give different opinions on this hire, but most of them seem pretty positive. Of course, the all-knowing Tim Hasselbeck thinks this is terrible hire and that Sam Bradford will be worse next season. Good thing we don’t listen to what anyone with the last name Hasselbeck has to say here at Ramblin’ Fan. Overall, the response has been more than positive. The best thing I head today was from “The Professor” [...]

Rams Hire McDaniels As OC

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you followed the Josh McDaniels roller coaster that went down on Tuesday like I did, you have to be happy that it is finally finished. First the two sides hit a snag and it looked like the deal wasn’t going to get done, then a little while later he was officially the new St. Louis offensive coordinator. I made it known that McDaniels was my pick early on, so obviously I love this move. For anyone who wants to check out the press conference with coach Steve Spagnuolo and conference call with McDaniels on Wednesday, tune in to 101 [...]

Chilly Coming For An Interview

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

As the Rams’ search for a new offensive coordinator continues, the second of the leading candidates is set to come to town for an interview early this week. Former Minnesota Vikings’ head coach Brad Childress is expected to be in St. Louis for an interview either Monday or Tuesday. While I’ve made it no secret that Josh McDaniels is my top choice, I wouldn’t be at all shocked if Chilly ends up getting the job. He and Steve Spagnuolo are good friends, and I think he would do a pretty good job. That brings me to a discussion point that [...]

McDaniels In The House

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

The news never seems to sleep when it comes to the Rams offensive coordinator position these days, and today was certainly no exception. Now that Pat Shurmur is officially gone, the Rams are apparently moving quickly on replacing him. ESPN is reporting that former Patriots’ OC and Broncos’ head coach Josh McDaniels is in St. Louis for a Saturday meeting with Steve Spagnuolo and crew. I have to admit that I was very excited when I heard this news, but not nearly as excited as when I heard what ESPN’s John Clayton had to say later in the day. According [...]

Shurmur Officially A Brown

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Cleveland Browns officially hired their new head coach on Thursday, and they named Rams’ offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as their new head man. Obviously, this isn’t a big surprise, but I’d like to congratulate Shurmur on his new job. I think things are starting to look up in Cleveland, and I hope Shurmur leads them to bigger and better things. The Rams will officially start the search for a new offensive coordinator, and since I already discussed some of the candidates yesterday, let’s look at it from a different angle. I was thinking about the situation today, and a [...]
