De Smith: ‘Deal Isn’t Close’
My frustration level has officially peaked when it comes to the lockout. After weeks of positive rumors and reports that the two sides are getting close a deal, the latest report from Jay Glazer is that NFLPA director DeMaurice Smith told 50 Pro Bowlers that he hasn’t received a good enough offer from the owners to bring to the players yet. Smith also said that the recent reports about the closeness of a deal getting done is way off. Now, I don’t want to be all gloom-and-doom about this, because Smith also said that he is optimistic because the two [...]
Will Rams Fans Have Hard Feelings Toward NFL?
Lockout. Such a gloomy, mournful word. Over the past three months, we’ve been rattled with this word and all the agony that accompanies it. Every evening we watch Sportscenter, patiently sit through a story about Derek Jeter’s leg, and hope that there will be a story about how a minuscule amount of optimism has somehow presented itself in the NFL labor talks. But, no. Instead, we hear about DeMaurice Smith meeting with the players and lawyers, lawyers meeting with Goodell, Goodell meeting with the owners, owners meeting with other owners in private jets, NFLPA meeting with the NFL, and Manning [...]
Holt, Bruce Top 10 Fantasy WR’s In History
As many of you know, I’m a huge fantasy sports guy. I worked as a fantasy sports writer for a year, and I pretty much play year-round in every major sport. So when the guys over at Rotoworld put together their Top 25 Fantasy Wide Receivers of All Time, I had to check it out. While it shouldn’t come as much surprise, the Rams were well represented, placing two players in the top 8. Torry Holt came in at #4 overall, which I thought was a little high at first until I thought back to how amazing he really was during [...]
The Rams’ WR Position
Many pundits and so-called “NFL analysts” have said the St. Louis Rams’ receiving corps is in dire need of help. Every available receiver has been mentioned as possible saviors. What these “experts” have forgotten about is the help already available on the roster. **The roster is based off of the official St. Louis Rams website. Stats are from the NFL website.** Danario Alexander: He showed potential in limited play time last season. He is at his best when used as a deep threat. Alexander is a long-strider – in part because he is 6’5 – and needs time to build [...]
Players Meet With Lawyers
As the lockout continues to near a resolution, there was a little twist in developments on Monday. A group of players reportedly met with with their Antitrust lawyers without owners present. Not much information was released about what went on in these meetings, but I have heard two main theories: One of them is good, and the other one is not so good. Let’s start with the not so good possibility. Some people have said that the meeting could have been for the lawyers to encourage their clients to stand up to the owners and not roll over in negotiations. [...]
My name is Darryn. I am ready to rock this blog with photos, opinions, videos, giveaways, challenges, hot girls, guest interviews, and just overall passion and unpredictability. If you love my Rams Rock Reports, you are awesome. If you hate them, you are even more awesome – just don’t be a pansy and leave, tell me why…then I will tell you why you are wrong. =) My passion for the Rams began when I moved to the Los Angeles area in 1993. The NFL Cardinals had moved out of St. Louis, so I adopted the Rams. I watched every game [...]
Allow Me to Introduce Myself
Greetings fellow Rams fans! My name is Eddie Perez and I just finished my third year of college. My major is Journalism and Mass Communications. I have written over many articles for the school newspaper and countless more on my independent blog. As it per the Rams, I have been a fan – football fan to be exact – for over 13 years. My favorite Ram has and always will be “The Reverend” Isaac Bruce. Mr. Bruce was the epitome of class and professionalism. Being a football fan in general, in my opinion, gives me a broader perspective. I view [...]
Free Agents the St. Louis Rams Should Pursue
Hello readers! To start off my first blog, I should introduce myself. My name is Vince Cianciolo, and I am a third year university student. I have been a huge fan of the St. Louis Rams for many years, and I feel that I can contribute clear and thorough opinions on the team. I have many ideas on what to write about regarding the Rams, and I hope you all enjoy my writings! Despite a solid draft day from the St. Louis Rams, there are still holes in the roster that need to be filled, which will be possible through [...]
Welcome New Writers
I just wanted to let everyone know that we have several new writers here at Ramblin’ Fan that will be starting this week. I will let them introduce themselves when they get started, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the content here at the site should be beefed up starting this week. It has always been our goal to give top-notch Rams news and insights from the fan perspective, and I think these new additions will allow us to do a better job of that now and in the future. We still have some open [...]
SJ39 To The HOF?
I came across an interesting article today discussing Rams soon-to-be Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk at Sporting News, and I was evn more intruiged after I read through it a bit. The article discussed who could be the next crop of Hall of Famers of the running backs that are still playing today. Obviously, at the top of that list was LaDanian Tomlinson, who I believe is a sure-fire HOFer. Looking at running backs under 30, the top of the list was current Rams running back Steven Jackson. “ He has done very well in replacing Faulk as St. Louis’ feature [...]
