Look Ahead To Day 3

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, Day 2 of the NFL Draft didn’t go exactly as planned for the Rams, at least from my perspective, but the people in the War Room have a chance to make up for it on Saturday. There is still some nice talent on the board, so there will at least be options. Let’s take a look at my top players left at our biggest need positions. Offensive Line – More specifically, offensive guard. The good news is that there are guys left that I think the Rams will have to target tomorrow. At the top of that list is [...]

Draft Day 2

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

We need a new war room. Torrey Smith over a unknown TE wow. But as I begin to see things, the Rams were trying to get another Mike Williams picking in the third round. Also he is from Boise State, Austin Pettis. Now to cheer my ramblin buddie up, and have you fans notice something. :p Watch Bradford Highlights. What postion are most of his TDs going to? Yes tight end. Bradford loves tight ends and remember Jermaine Gresham in college. Most of Bradford’s passes were to him. We needed a TE because Illini Mike needs someone on the right [...]

Round 2: St. Louis Rams Take Lance Kendricks

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As giddy as I was after yesterday’s pick of Robert Quinn, I am equally as disappointed in the Rams’ second-round pick of Wisconsin TE Lance Kendricks. It’s not anything against him as a player, but I just don’t understand the rationale behind the selection. WE already have 4 TE’s on the roster, two of whom were taken in last year’s draft. Meanwhile, guys at major need positions like Mikel Leshoure, Stephen Paea, Jurrell Casey, Marvin Austin, Torrey Smith, etc. were all available and would have come in and made an immediate impact. I don’t know what the team plans to [...]

Draft: Day Two Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

After the pleasant surprise that was Robert Quinn on the first day, it’s time to look forward to Day Two of the 2011 NFL Draft. The first round was pretty crazy with four QB’s going in the top 12 picks, and there are plenty of very good players left for the Rams over the next couple of rounds. Honestly, it’s hard to predict what will happen over the next few days after the wild first round, but the second round should be quite interesting, especially for the Rams. Only one running back went in the opening round, so a guy [...]

St. Louis Rams Take Robert Quinn

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Well, it didn’t go as planned, but I couldn’t be more happy with the Rams’ first-round selection. The Rams took Robert Quinn (DE, N. Carolina) at #14 overall. This guy is an elite pass-rusher who should fit in perfectly opposite Chris Long on the line. I didn’t mention Quinn much in the weeks leading up to the draft because I didn’t think there was any way he’d be there. I have loved this guy for about two years now, so I am giddy right now. Here’s a highlight video of Quinn from college, so check it out. You will enjoy [...]

Final Rams’ Mock Draft

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since the best weekend of the year is finally upon us, I thought I would give my final mock picks for the Rams through the entire draft. Obviously, this is an inexact science and there’s no way to know who will be available in each round, but I’m going to go by where I have each player ranked and by need of this team. Before I begin, I wanted to let everyone know what is going to be going on here at Ramblin’ Fan on Thursday. First, I will be making a couple of radio apearances throughout the day talking [...]

Mock Draft Finishing Touch

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Today I will end the Mock Draft and watch it tommorow. The next thing will be Top 5 Draft Busts of Rams and sucesses. 25:Seattle Seahawks select: QB Ryan Mallet What happened to him? He was a top 15 draft prospect then fell down to second round. I saw him complete more passes at combine then Newton. Anyway, Mallet has a strong arm and accuracy that Seahawks will need even when Hasselbeck resigns. The weird thing is that Tim Tebow was picked at this pick last season. 26:Baltimore Ravens select: TE D.J Williams They need a WR but the closest [...]

JT Talking Draft

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Post-Dispatch writer Jim Thomas does his weekly chat every Tuesday, and this one is probably the most fun for me to read with the draft coming up in two days. For those of you who just can’t get enough of Rams’ draft talk, head over to STLToday.com after you get done here to check out the chat with JT in its entirety. There were numerous interesting things said in the chat, and here are a few of my favorites. JT thinks the Rams are highly likely to trade down on Thursday, assuming Julio Jones isn’t available at 14. In fact, [...]

Mock Draft 3.0

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the draft in two days I will do four instead. 21: Kansas City Chiefs select: DT Phil Taylor Alot of DE and DT are first rounders, and most of these players won’t excel immediately. Phil Taylor is a draft sleeper and he could make a big impact. The Chiefs need a center but for now they should focus on defense  before most of those players are gone. 22:Indianapolis Colts select: T Nate Solder He could transition to center since Jeff Saturday is aging. He had a good Combine workout, has great feet, and he can make holes for the left side. Colts [...]

NFL Lockout Lifted

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since Tiffany is doing such a great job picking up the slack in our mock draft, I figured I would hit on the big news of the day, which is the lifting of the lockout by Judge Nelson. Now before everyone starts celebrating, understand that while this is obviously good news, this thing is far from over. I will try to be as helpful as I can with this info, but it is mostly legal stuff and difficult to understand at times. Pretty much, the deal is that Judge Nelson ruled in favor of the players and, by court order, [...]
