With the glaring lack of depth at the cornerback position, it looks like the Rams might have their hand forced this weekend when they take on the offensive juggernaut that is the New Orleans Saints at the Edward Jones Dome. Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo met with the media after Wednesday’s practice, and he had some interesting things to say about injury statuses and other issues the team will be dealing with heading into Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. I was reading over Rams beat writer Jim Thomas’ chat tonight like I do every Tuesday, and the vast majority of it was Rams fans venting on how bad this team is and how Stan Kroenke needs to clean house after the season is over. Well, coming off Sunday’s miserable game against the Cowboys, the news just gets better for the Rams. Taking a look at the injury report from Coach Steve Spagnuolo at his press conference today, let’s start at the top. As far as Sam Bradford goes, he will be shut down until Wednesday, when he will be evaluated again. There shouldn’t be more concern here than usual, but it will still be one of those things where we just have to wait and see how he progresses. I’m starting to run out of things to say about this Rams team. There have been plenty of lows this season, but I have to think that Sunday’s performance by the defense has to be close to the top of the list. This defense allowed a rookie, third-round running back to rush for 252 yards in the 34-7 loss. In case you didn’t see the game, that is not a typo. 252 YARDS!! That set a single-game record for the Dallas Cowboys franchise, and it also represents the largest total the Rams have ever given up in their franchise history. [...]

If you haven’t heard, the Rams have ruled quarterback Sam Bradford out for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys in Dallas. His ankle just didn’t respond to treatment quite as well as they hoped, so AJ Feeley will get the nod under center. I’ve been trying to be as optimistic as possible regarding the chances Sam Bradford suits up for the Rams on Sunday, be he and the team certainly aren’t making it easy. Bradford missed practice again on Friday while dealing with his ankle injury, although he did do some work with trainer Reggie Scott on his own. I still think he’s going to play on Sunday, and the fact that he tested the ankle out a bit today makes me feel better about that prediction.
