St. Louis Rams Receive 1 Compensatory Pick, Mr. Irrelevant!

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well the St. Louis Rams will be receiving an extra  7th round pick, 252nd overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. The League gave out 32 such picks on Monday based on free agent loses in 2007. The 252nd pick, and last of the draft will now belong to the Rams. Apparently the lost of Kevin Curtis was not viewed as a huge loss by the league or it’s formula for giving out these picks. Over the years, the last player selected in the annual NFL Draft has aquired the nickname of Mr. Irrelevant. Last year Mr. Irrelevant was Ramzee Robinson, CB [...]

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well the St. Louis Rams have finally done it, they are going to throw a party for the 2008 NFL Draft. The following message below is from the St. Louis Rams. This should be a great event. If you want to meet Stlvinnie in person I will be at the event. See you there….
The St. Louis Rams, Budweiser, and Russell Athletic are hosting the 2008 NFL Draft Day Party at the Edward Jones Dome on April 26th, 2008 from 1PM to 5PM.  Along with the excitement of watching the Rams select the 2nd overall player in the Draft, there will [...]

Stlvinnie’s 2008 NFL Mock Draft

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last Updated 4/1/2008

This Mock Draft assumes NO trades in round 1

Team
1st Round

1. Miami Dolphins – Chris Long DE, University of  Virginia – Bill Parcels will think back to the days of Lawrence Taylor when he sees Chris Long. With Jason Taylor and Matt Roth as the current ends the Dolphins will need to upgrade and prepare for the end of Taylor’s career. Jason will also be a good teacher for Chris. The Dolphins have so many hole they really could go in any direction with this pick, but I believe Chris Long will be too hard to pass up.  Matt [...]

St Louis Rams 1st Round Draft Picks, A Look Back

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since moving to St. Louis in 1995 the St. Louis Rams have had 16 number one draft picks. As you can see by the list this is not always a sure deal. Who will the St. Louis Rams pick in the 2008 NFL Draft? Will we get Torry Holt type quality or another Lawrence Phillips? Only time will tell but to be competitive in 2008 the Rams will need to select two very productive picks with their #2, and #33 selections. Bill Devaney will need to be on top of his game on April 26th. Out of 16 picks I would [...]

Glenn Dorsey at LSU Pro Day – Todd McShay Says “Great Fit”

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Todd McShay of ESPN.com says that Glenn Dorsey is a “Great Fit” for the St. Louis Rams with the second pick in the 2008 NFL draft.  The below video is of Glenn Dorsey at his Pro Day work out and is from ESPN.com. Tim Krumrie works Dorsey through some lineman drills. Word around the internet is mixed on Dorsey’s performance. He performed well but nothing off the chart. Dorsey is still thought to be the top DT in this years draft, and many think he will go in the top 5 picks.

Stats from NFL.com
DL Glenn Dorsey (6-1 ¾, 297): Ran the 40 in [...]

St. Louis Rams Moving?

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

That’s right you read that correctly the St. Louis Rams are moving. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported on Sunday along with the local TV channels that Scott Linehan wants the Rams to move their camp from Rams Park to another location, preferably a location where the Rams can practice against another NFL team. The out of town location for the 2008 training camp is still undecided.  The last 3 years the Rams have practiced in front of local fans at Rams Park. Prior to 2005 the Rams training camp was held in Macomb Illinois at Western Illinois University.  Possible new [...]

St. Louis Rams Sign Popeye!

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

As reported earlier the St. Louis Rams were looking at Reche Caldwell. On Tuesday the Rams signed Caldwell to a one-year deal. Caldwell will reunite with Al Saunders and add some much needed depth to the Rams receiving unit. I do not believe it is a lock that he will make the squad in 2008, but for now I would pencil him in at #3 behind Torry Holt and Drew Bennett. Caldwell only caught 15 balls in 2007 for the Washington Redskins in limited duty. The former second round draft pick out of the University of Florida had a good year for [...]

St. Louis Rams Re-sign James Hall

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

The St. Louis Rams signed James Hall to a two-year contract on Tuesday. I check around on the net but terms of the deal seem to not be released yet. The Rams just cut James Hall about a week ago. Apparently they restructured him to a more cap friendly number for the Rams. Hall started 15 games in 2007, made 59 tackles and had 2 1/2 sacks. Over all I would say he was unproductive and not worth the money they spent on him the first time around. Hall seems to always have an injury issue, which was one of [...]

St. Louis Rams Have Tough Choice at #2

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Vic Carucci of NFL.com today posted an interesting article about how the St. Louis Rams find themselves in a tough position with the number 2 pick in this years 2008 NFL Draft.
With the second overall pick of the draft, they aren’t under quite as much scrutiny as the Miami Dolphins, who own the top choice. But it’s extremely close.
Theoretically, the Rams — who haven’t chosen this high since trading to No. 1 for Orlando Pace in 1997 — are in position to land the second-rated prospect of the entire college crop. In a year such as this, where there [...]

Jake Long Scores 26 on Wonderlic Test

AUTHOR: stlvinnie | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Chicago Tribune was one of the first sites to post some of this years wonderlic test scores.
According to the article NFL teams expect most prospects will score well because players can prepare for the tests. When a player has an unusually low score, it sets off alarms.A person of average intelligence is supposed to score a 20. NFL teams like to see quarterbacks, offensive linemen, middle linebackers and safeties score higher than that because those positions can be mentally demanding.
Based off of this, Jake Long did pretty well. A lot more of these scores can also be found on [...]
