Rams Helping Out Joplin

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

First of all, let me wish everyone a happy Memorial Day. Hope everyone was safe over the weekend, and everyone had a good time. The Rams have been busy over the last week, as they have done several different things to help the torando victims in Joplin. First, several current and former players visited Joplin after the disaster to lift spirits and do what they could to help some of the victims. “Quarterback Sam Bradford, offensive tackle Adam Goldberg, linebacker James Laurinatis, defensive end James Hall and center Jason Brown plus former Ram and New Orleans Saints tight end Ernie [...]

Gilyard Wants Out … Really

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I find that very few things really surprise me when it comes to the NFL and the Rams anymore, but I have to admit that I was a bit floored when I heard the rumor today that Rams receiver Mardy Gilyard may have asked the team for a trade. I mean come on, Mardy. Really? The Rams gave Gilyard every chance in the world to earn playing time as a rookie last season, and he failed. He couldn’t manage to learn the playbook, and to be frank, if you get drafted in the third round by a team who had [...]

18 Games Better Than Nothing

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today, I heard about Roger Goodell bringing up 18 games again. Most fans last year were saying “No”. Now we’re about to have no season and fans are saying “YES!”. I always wanted 18 games and if it happens I will be very happy. Giving our Rams a better opening season. Only one thing about this 18 games is it another argument for more money? More games and players = $. That’s a major problem that we fans are dealing with. So that’s something that would drag the lockout and free agency. Another big thing is, Is the NFL trying [...]

No SJ39 At Workouts

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

We have spent some time talking about all the good things that have been happening with the player-led workouts this week, but one name we haven’t mentioned is Steven Jackson. We haven’t mentioned SJ39 because he was not in attendance. I found it a little surprising that 35 guys showed up and Jackson wasn’t one of them, but I’m not too concerned. Jackson is a veteran who keeps himself in shape and who won’t need much time to learn the new offense, so I don’t think there was much to be gained from a football standpoint. I would have liked [...]

Avery Is Fast, Mock OTAs

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

For those of you who live in the St. Louis area, you know all about the weather last night. For anyone not lucky enough to live in the Midwest, suffice it to say that thunderstorms and tornadoes significantly limited my ability to post a blog. I actually found myself driving down the interstate on my way back to the newsroom from covering a game when the storms hit, but have no fear, because I made it to a gas station and spent an hour riding out 80 mph winds and a nearby tornado with 60 strangers. Since I didn’t get to [...]

Bradford Running The Show

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I know I go on and on about how great Sam Bradford is, so if you aren’t a fan of that, then this might not be the post for you. If you do recognize how special this kid is, then you are not going to be surprised on bit about what’s going on at the team-organized workouts at Lindenwood University this week. According to several sources who have been in attendance at the workout, Bradford has been making an impression on everyone involved. By all accounts, Bradford has put his outstanding leadership skills on display this week, running the workouts [...]

Free Agency Talks

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Cadillac Williams (Buccaneers): Interested!¡ I’ve been hearing the buzz of Cadillacs in Rams park. I mean the runningback. Cadillac could be the back up for SJ39, if he gets new wheels that is productive. Cadillac most likely will not stay because of the set they have now. Raheem Morris is trying to ruin the buzz by saying he wants Cadillac to come back. Ah come on you have Blount and we need a backup unless Toston is bad. DT Anthony Hargrove (Saints): Comeback? Yes if you watch every Rams’ draft you would know this. Superbowl champion Anthony Hargrove was a [...]

Rams Rollin’ In A Cadillac?

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

There has been plenty of talk since the draft about who the Rams will go after in free agency to back up running back Steven Jackson, and those conversations usually begin and end with Darren Sproles. I’ve made it no secret that I’m a big Sproles fan, and I think he should be right at the top of the team’s list. However, a report today at ProFootballWeekly.com indicates there may be another player who is gaining steam behind closed doors at Rams Park. According to a source with the team, there are several people who really like Cadillac Williams as [...]

Rams Beginning Team Workouts

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since no official team activities are allowed during the lockout, players have to take it upon themselves to get together if they want to work out. According to several players and league sources, Rams players are scheduled to get together starting on Monday for workout sessions in the St. Louis area. Now, I don’t know for sure who will be in attendance at these workouts, and the location is not being divulged due to security issues, but it looks like wide receiver great Torry Holt will be in town to work with the receivers and Cory Chavous will be working [...]

Atogwe A Married Man

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

Safety OJ Atogwe may not be a member of the St. Louis Rams anymore, but he will always be a favorite here at Ramblin’ Fan. Keeping that in mind, I would like to wish him congratulations on his wedding to Jill Singletary, daughter of NFL legend Mike Singletary. The two had their ceremony on Saturday in California, with Rams cornerback Ron Bartell serving as a groomsman. The story of how the two met is actually pretty interesting, as apparently their first encounter was when she was 16. Several years later, after Singletary became head coach of the 49ers, the two [...]
