So, yea, Mark Clayton is back with the Rams on a one-year deal, according to ESPN.  What does this mean, given the current disaster at the position?  I’ll tell you what it means – another useless receiver. Obviously the most talked about camp battle that is coming down to its last days is the WR battle, and everyone has a different opinion. Another position I’ll be watching this Thursday is that of the TE. Coming in to last week, I would have thought that the 2 locks would be Lance Kendricks and Billy Bajema. Kendricks obviously because of his outstanding versatility and athleticism he has shown throughout camp and preseason. For those of you gamers out there, the new installation of the Madden football series was released on Tuesday. I checked out the game and it was excellent, but I was more concerned with the rankings the Rams and individual players on the team received. Overall, I have to say I was pretty happy with most of it, and I thought the developers did a pretty nice job with the team. I can’t say this came as a major surprise, but the St. Louis Rams released linebacker Na’il Diggs on Monday. I like Diggs quite a bit, but this was the right move for the team. Brady Poppinga and Ben Leber are almost certainly going to start alongside James Laurinaitis when the regular season opens, and there really just wasn’t a spot for Diggs if you look at some of the other, younger guys at the position. You are going to be hearing a lot about cuts over the next week, so I figured I’d get it all started tonight since the Rams have begun trimming the roster. According to the team, the Rams let go of wide receivers Joe West and Jared Jenkins and tight end Schuylar Oordt. I don’t really care what the Rams record is during the preseason, but I have to admit that I was rooting hard for the team to hold on for the victory in the final minutes of Friday night’s game in Kansas City. It’s done the wide receiver need on the Rams is finished. But did we know we always had it? The number one wide receiver problem we had. It was another day, and another win for the St. Louis Rams on Friday night when they strolled into Kansas City and took back the Governor’s Cup with a 14-10 preseason win. This outing was far and away better than last week’s effort against the Titans, and I’m really starting to feel good about the upcoming season. Ok, this is just an observation, but I just went through all of the Rams players and discovered who is most active on Twitter. Ok I am lying I only went through several, but I found an interesting possible trend. Most of the proven players who are for-sure starters or backups are either rarely on Twitter or if they are, its mostly about football stuff for the fans.
