Sam Bradford Chat

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have been extremely busy today, so sorry for the late post and also a preemptive apology for this post being a little bit short. Not much big news coming out of Rams camp today, bu new quarterback Sam Bradford did participate in a chat with the fans on the team’s website today. I will link the entire thing below but here are some highlights. Bradford said that in his first year as a starter he played under center more than half of the snap he took that season, and he said he is comfortable playing in that capacity. [...]

Barron to Sign, Rams Acquire Safety

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to his agent, much-maligned offensive tackle Alex Barron reportedly plans to sign his tender offer from the team and report to OTAs and mandatory minicamp this summer. Barron has skipped all of the team’s offseason sessions up to this point, opting instead to work out on his own. I want to go on record right now in saying that I am an Alex Barron supporter, and I have been for his entire career with the Rams. Yes, he takes WAY too many penalties. Yes, sometimes he looks lost and struggles against mediocre pass-rushers. I understand that. What people always [...]

Westbrook A Possibility for Rams

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

One story that kind of got lost a big over the draft weekend was former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook coming to town to meet with the Rams and to take a physical. Westbrook was one of the elite backs n the league just a couple of years ago, but injuries have him currently looking for work. Now before everyone starts freaking out thinking about the Steven Jackson/Brian Westbrook tandem running wild next season, here are some things to think about. First, this isn’t the Brian Westbrook that everyone remembers from his days in Philly. He is 30 years old, [...]

Rams Day 3 Recap

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

This post should have been up yesterday, but to be honest I felt like I needed to take some time and get a new perspective on what the Rams did on Day 3 of the draft. For anyone who wasn’t on Twitter yesterday, I was pretty vocally unhappy with some of the picks we made. Part of the reason was that I had been watching nothing but the draft for pretty much three straight days, and part of it was because I was up at 8 am and  I am in no way a morning person. After taking a day to reflect and get some [...]

Finally… A Wide Receiver!

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Rams didn’t waste any time making the first pick of the third day this morning, as they selected Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard before the clock had barely started. I must say that I like this pick more than any other selection we have made in this draft excluding Bradford. Gilyard brings something we sorely need: playmaking ability. He was a machine for Cincy last season, and he is a fun guy to watch. He can be a dynamic return man, and he should be ale to contribute in that capacity immediately. His size is fine at 6-0, but there [...]

Rams Day 3 Prep

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

It is entirely too early for me to be awake, especially on a Saturday morning, but I guess it’s worth it for the draft. We obviously still have numerous needs to fill, and I expect the team to address pass-catching depth and pass-rushing depth before the end of the day. With rounds 4-7 starting in just under an hour, here are some names to watch as the draft continues on. Everson Griffen-DE (USC) – Rated by some as a first round talent, it is fairly shocking to me that he is still around here in the fourth. It would be [...]

Third Round Pick is CB Jerome Murphy

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

With their third pick of the 2010 draft, the Rams selected CB Jerome Murphy out of South Florida. Not a WR, but this looks like a solid pick. Murphy is a guy with nice size at 6-0, and he is excellent against the run. His speed is solid, and NFL teams love corners who have some size on them. This is a Coach Spags kind of guy, just like Bradley Fletcher was last year. Murphy is one of the big hitters in this draft, and he should be exciting to watch. Once again, I would have liked to see a [...]

Who’s Next for the Rams?

AUTHOR: | IN: Rams | COMMENTS: None Yet

I have to admit that I was mildly surprised by the pick of Rodger Saffold at 33, not because he isn’t a good player, but because I really thought we would trade out of that spot. The truth of the matter is that the team had Saffold ranked high on their board and they felt he was too good a value to pass up. It’s not who I wanted, but I understand the pick and it’s hard to argue with getting a first rounder with very few questions in the second. So… who is next on the list. We pick [...]

Rodger Saffold First Pick of Day 2

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

After one of the longest days in recent memory for yours truly yesterday, I finally got a good night’s sleep and I am ready to do it all over again tonight. I’ve said before that I think this second rounder is an extremely important pick for this organization, and the Rams took OT Roger Saffold out of Indiana. The team must not have seen a trade package they liked for this pick, but I can’t say I’m completely shocked by this selection. It’s no secret that the team values solid line play on both sides of the ball, and Saffold [...]
